Known best for Old Time Mountain and Bluegrass Music, you don't have to wander far to find some music to get your toes tapping and your hands clapping. Best known locations in this area are the Blue Ridge Music Center and the Rex Theatre in Galax. Yet just ask around and you will find so many more places where you can likely catch local musicians gathering for a little jamming.
Oh, and you may also want to wander some of The Crooked Road Music Trail and learn more about how music was and is the lifeblood of these mountains.
There are plenty of choices for every level of player with more than a dozen courses within 30 miles of the property and many more just a little further out. Some of the most notable are Blue Ridge Country Club, Olde Mill, Cross Creek Country Club, New River Country Club, and Olde Beau Golf Club.
There are plenty residents who would be happy to join you for a round or even two!
No, we aren't talking about the ones out of the graveyards, but the liquid spirits that we most all enjoy. There are a plethora of wineries, breweries,distillaries and even meaderies throughout Virginia and North Carolina. The closer ones are Mt. Vale Vineyards, Round Peak Vineyards, and Shelton Winery, but check the Virginia and North Carolina guides that name them all to find what is available in the area you wish to visit. And most of us have our favorites, so ask and we will be glad to share!
